We learnt to use Eric Carle's style of making pictures to make our bees. He paints different pieces of paper in different colours and adds texture using sponges. Then he cuts out the shapes and puts the pictures together.

Snow Storm Paintings

We have been exploring cool and warm colours and how these make us feel. We used three cool colours (blue, green and purple)to create our Snow Storm paintings. First we wet our paper with water. Then we painted over the top making sure the white paper was completely covered. Next we sprinkled salt crystals over the top which absorbs some of the water and leaves an interesting pattern. Then we spread gladwrap over the top and used our fingers to merge and blend the colours together while the paint was still wet. We waited for our paintings to be completely dry before removing the wrap. Look at the fabulous stormy effect!!

We read the story Pukunui for Maori Language Week. Children matched Maori vocabulary with English meanings. We used coloured card to design maori headbands for Pukunui using triangular shapes. Next we used sharpie to outline Pukunui with his large tummy. We used brown paint to colour him in and glued on yellow fringing for his piu piu. Pukunui can be heard saying, "Kapai kaimoana!!" Seafood is good!!

Tulips

We read a story called "Hello Frog" by Eric Carle. We painted our paper in the same style and then we cut out our tulips, stems and leaves. We needed to arrange these on our paper to look effective.
