Morning Stars
We run a parent programme each morning from 8.40 – 9.00. This is a special time for you to come into the room to help your child with their literacy learning. Showing your child that you value and support their learning is a powerful tool to ensuring success. It is a time when your child can get quality one-on-one support from an adult in a structured supportive environment. The programme follows a simple routine of:
- Sharing books together
- Handwriting practice
- Word practice
Children enjoy sharing their learning with others, so grandparents, friends, older siblings, neighbours are welcome to come along during this time.
Family and Friends in the classroom
Parents are invited to assist in the classroom in a number of ways. This could include: Listening to children read, running workshops, gluing and preparing books. It is a good idea to wait a term before volunteering as this gives your child the chance to gain independance.
Learning celebrations
Parents will be invited to learning celebrations throughout the year. These are fun, informal times, where the children will share their learning with you. Term one usually involves a swimming celebration.
