Principal

Hello! My name is Irene Cooper. I enjoy my role as principal of Hillcrest Normal School and work hard to enable the best possible outcomes for all our students, socially, emotionally and academically. At Hillcrest we value the WHOLE child.
I am well known nationally in education circles for my recent work on standards for teachers and professional ethics, working with the New Zealand Teachers Council and for the review of the quality of Initial Teacher Education work that I completed for Steve Maharey when he was Minister of Education.
I’m a mother of two grown up daughters and now a grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters, Aurelia and Olivia.
